I made McCalls M7817 pattern, View D from some African print fabric I purchased from Etsy. Here’s the pattern. McCalls M7817. I cut a size 14. This pattern was very easy and it would be perfect for a beginner. I love how easy it was to come together. It was basically 5 pieces and some binding tape.
I pretty much stuck to the pattern, except for two changes. I lined the bodice and back part of the jacket, but not the sleeves. I felt like the fabric was a bit light for fall, so I wanted to give it a little bit more weight by lining it, and I am glad I did that. I will use a better fabric for the lining for other jackets like this. Definitely more print than just the basic white.
The other change I made was adding the binding to the sleeve in a different place than the pattern called for.
I like the way this jacket wraps in the front and the tie. Just simple and easy. Too many options as far as how to style it. It would look really good with some cute jeans and it can even be worn open. It’s a great jacket. I cant’ wait to make it again. I can’t say enough good about it.
No matter what I’ve done or haven’t done, I deserve to be loved.
