McCalls MP205 Easy. Bohemian Tunic with Ruffled Sleeves and Ruffled Hem

I previously made this ruffled tunic about four years ago, and it was a raging failure.  This was years ago.  I made it with a white jersey knit.  I wore it once to work and never wore it again. It made it to the donate pile and that was that.  Until now.

I decided to try this pattern again because I like the style of the tunic, but I realize I just chose the wrong fabric before.  I bought this fabric from Hobby Lobby for less than $5.00 a yard this year when it went on clearance. It was my initial thought to use it for a maxi dress but I changed my mind and thought it perfect for this particular project.  I bought 5 yards because I thought I would need that much for the dress.

The pattern was fairly simple but required almost 4 yards of fabric because of the gathering on the sleeves and the fullness of the tunic.  I cut a size large and View B.   The process was fairly straight forward. I did not make any changes to the pattern, except that my tie in the front is just some elastic I used for some masks.

What can I say, I  just love this top.  It’s so cute and feminine and perfect for me.  I especially like the fullness and the length of the top.  It covers everything you might want to cover and still allows you to look very stylish and comfortable in the process.  I also like the flow of the fabric which hangs perfectly.  I would most definitely make it again and possibly just convert it into a knee length dress, which I would probably wear slap out. I really enjoy wearing this and I feel great in it.

I really wanted this to turn out better than when I made it before, and it did.  The key, I think, was definitely the fabric. You don’t want to use a fabric that will be too heavy.

I have not done this in previous posts, but in this post, I decided to post some pictures of the process of putting it together and pictures of the inside of the tunic.  I thought it might be useful to see it from the inside.  I hope this is helpful.
