I started working on this pattern when my nephew was visiting a few weeks ago. Here’s a link to the pattern. Simplicity S9102 I started cutting the pattern and fabric one day and the next day I started sewing. The fabric is a beautiful yellow double gauze I found at Joann’s when my daughter and I drove to Tennessee for me to spend my Mother’s Day and Birthday money.
I really like this pattern. I bought it from Hobby Lobby during a pattern haul because of the fabulously affordable sale they had on Simplicity patterns. The pattern was fairly easy and if I had to point out a difficult part, it would be the facing. However, it was not difficult because there were no adjustments or anything to do on this. It was perfectly fitted. Not only would I recommend this pattern to a beginner, but I would also recommend making it in many variations and different fabrics. I plan to make it again in a more flowy fabric than the one I used here. The only modification I made to the pattern, was I kept the sleeves long and did not make the cuff as it is show on the pattern.
This dress is an all year dress because it can made in so many different fabrics, from a rayon to denim. I wore mine when I went out, but it can be worn with a sash or belt as pictured. I am already plotting out my next caftan before the summer is over. This pattern is definitely a keeper.
You already know you couldn’t tell me nothing while I was wearing my yellow dress!
