Super Easy Ribbed Crochet Hat from Jonna Martinez

Easy Crochet Hat

So, it’s starting to get a little chilly outside, and even though I am indoors most days, on those occasions when I have to weather the wind and cold, I like to have on a hat and some gloves.   I have a few hats already, but wanted to make some hats to add to my collection.  Hence, this super cute hat that I found online from Jonna Martinez, on her Crochet Channel.  I saw the pattern on Pinterest, and checked out her link.  This was my first visit to her channel, and I really like it and may try more of her patterns.  Here is the specific link to the pattern I am posting about today.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcIihHsYBF8

I bought the yarn from Hobby Lobby and made this really cute and really simple hat with one skein of yard.  I used Yarn Bee yarn in Mauve Rustic Romantic, and I used a Size I hook.  She used an L and a much chunkier yarn.  Each skein is 220 yards and it was just enough.  It took about 2.5 hours to make and I made it while I was watching tv, something I rarely do.  Watch tv that is.  I definitely like how easy it was to come together and it fits great on my head.  There are lots of free easy crochet patterns out there, all you have to do is look.  And most of the free patterns today also come with free tutorials, like the one I am posting about today.  See link above.

I just determined what size I wanted the hat to be and just basically did the same as the video.   It’s a super easy crochet pattern and you use the half double crochet stitch for the entire hat.  It couldn’t be easier.  If you are a beginner, this is an excellent pattern for you, and the end product is so beautiful and can easily be made for yourself or for someone else.

You can try different yarns, and different hook sizes to get a different look.  You could also change the stitches to single crochet, or double crotchet, or even triple crochet.  You could also skip the back loop only stitch, and pull the stitches through both loops at the top for a different look.  However, I like the back loop only stitch because it makes really cute ribbing.

I love this hat and have worn it many times. I plan to make some fingerless gloves to go with it because that will make it a combo.  This may actually become a go to pattern for me because of how easy it is.  And frankly, I like easy.

Thank you for letting me share this great pattern with you.  Please feel free to leave comments, I love reading them.   If you like this, please, click like.  Until next time, let’s keep making our lives beautiful, one project at a time.

How much time have you wasted just thinking about it. Just do it, already.
