Simplicity S9047 African Print Wrap Dress with Side Tie

I made this super cute wrap dress with a side tie.  The pattern is Simplicity S8848.  Simplicity S8848 I made View A and I cut a size 16.

I used an African Print Fabric I purchased from an Etsy shop in a 6 yard bundle.  The Fabric was so good to work with.  No fraying and no fading or bleeding when I washed it.  It was exactly the same as prior to washing it.  I love this fabric. I especially like the pattern and the beautiful mixture of colors.  Loving the red and the gold in this.

I lined this dress because I wanted to give it some weight for fall/winter.  If I were making it during the spring or summer, I definitely would not line it.  The lining fabric was a black and white polka dot cotton fabric I already had in my stash.

I had some difficult with the facing, but it turned out fine.  It could be a little challenging for a beginner.  I hate facings, but they are a necessary part of this garment.  Although binding could have easily replaced the facing.

I styled this with a pair of high waisted jeans [even though they don’t show] and some gold pumps.  I really like this dress.  It’s just beautiful!  I felt really dressed up!! It would be really great for a lunch date or a girls day out.  If we ever get to having those again.  (i.e. COVID).  I definitely plan to make it again, but I think I will make the long sleeve top instead of the dress, just for the variation.
